- The Apostille is an official government issued certificate added to documents so they will be accepted by other countries when presented to them. The Apostille certifies the signature of the notary or the signature of the governmental employee who signed on the governmental document (it is not a certification of the content of the document, only for the signatures).
- The Apostille concerns only original documents or true copies issued from the Republic of Cyprus or original private documents such as wills, PoA, agreements e.t.c which were notarized in Cyprus.
- The stamp needed for each document costs 5 euro.
- In Cyprus the department responsible for the Apostille is the Ministry of Justice in Nicosia. However as of 22/5/2017, all Citizen’s Service Center in Cyprus are authorized to use the Apostille certificate only for governmental documents. Private documents, wills, Poa, Certificates issued from the Registrar of companies and private sworn statements should be Aposstille only through the Ministry of Justice.
- Documents not in Greek or English language should be translated from the same person who signed the original document.
- Documents should be Apostille only if the Country to be presented recognizes the Apostille.
